For the ninth year, Johnson City Honda will hold their annual Drive it Forward Campaign. Throughout the month of June, for every vehicle sold, new and used, Johnson City Honda will donate $50 to one of five local charities chosen. Drive it Forward gives customers the opportunity to choose which charity they’d like their donation to go towards.
For 50 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs, a leading youth service provider, has been providing after school, summer, teen and sports programs for youth ages 6-18. The Clubs are open during hours that kids are most likely to need a safe place to go — after school and during summer. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs is to inspire and enable youth ages 6 to 18 to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
Haven of Mercy Ministries, Inc. is a 501(c)3 religious non-profit providing safe shelter* in the men’s facility, and feeding hot meals to the homeless and poor for over 37 years. Over the past few years, the loss of jobs, homes, and poor economy have placed a demand on the Haven to provide help to women and children, families, and shut-ins in addition to the men they minister to. Haven provides clothing, furniture, generous food boxes, assistance with utilities and rents as funds allow. Chapel services are held nightly and Sunday morning. The Word of God is taught and ministered freely, and lives are changed on a daily basis.
CASA is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization, ID number 45-0515257. CASA of Northeast TN serves Washington, Unicoi and Greene Counties. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they do not get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. CASA volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. Independent research has shown that children with a CASA volunteer are substantially less likely to spend time in long-term foster care and less likely to re-enter care. CASA of Northeast TN has served over 400 children in our community in the last year. This number continues to increase and they are in need of community support through volunteers and donations.
Their mission is to feed the hungry by securing and distributing food and grocery products to regional agencies that provide service to the needy, ill, children, and elderly. They also feed the hungry through their direct service programs: children’s feeding programs such as Backpack for Kids, School Pantries and Summer Feeding program and the Mobile Food Pantry which delivers nutritious food directly to those who would have little or no access. Their vision is that no one in Northeast Tennessee will go hungry due to lack of access to food.
